IILM Wins Multiple Honours at The Asset Triple A Islamic Finance Awards 2026, CEO Mohamad Safri Named Islamic Banker of the Year
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – 15 July 2026
The International Islamic Liquidity Management Corporation (IILM) is pleased to announce that it has been recognised with three prestigious accolades at The Asset Triple A Islamic Finance Awards 2026, reaffirming its leadership in advancing global Islamic liquidity management and the continued strength of its Ṣukūk Programme.
IILM was honoured with the following awards:
• Best Issuer of the Year
• Best Global Liquidity Solution Provider of the Year
In addition, IILM’s Chief Executive Officer, Mohamad Safri Shahul Hamid, was named Islamic Banker of the Year, in recognition of his visionary leadership in driving the organisation’s strategic growth, expanding its global footprint, and strengthening the international Islamic liquidity management ecosystem.
The awards recognise IILM’s outstanding achievements during 2025, when the organisation delivered its strongest performance since inception. During the year, IILM issued a cumulative USD22.9 billion of short-term Ṣukūk through 21 auctions across 69 series, representing the highest annual issuance volume in its history.
IILM also expanded its Ṣukūk Programme from USD 6.0 billion to USD8.5 billion, while its outstanding Ṣukūk portfolio reached a then record-high USD 6.4 billion.
Further reinforcing its position as the leading global provider of Islamic liquidity management solutions, IILM expanded its Primary Dealer network to 16 institutions, welcoming new Primary Dealers from Türkiye, Kuwait, Qatar and Nigeria. The appointment of Jaiz Bank also marked the first Primary Dealer from the African continent, reflecting the growing demand for high-quality Shari’ah-compliant liquidity management instruments across emerging Islamic finance markets.
Another significant milestone during the year was the introduction of a nine-month Ṣukūk tenor, providing Islamic financial institutions with greater flexibility in managing their short-term liquidity and asset-liability management requirements.
Commenting on the recognition, Mohamad Safri Shahul Hamid, Chief Executive Officer of IILM, said: “We are deeply honoured to receive these prestigious recognitions from The Asset. These awards reflect the collective commitment and dedication of our Board members, shareholders, member central banks and multilateral institution, Primary Dealers, investors and the entire IILM team in advancing a resilient, efficient and globally integrated Islamic liquidity management ecosystem.”
“Being recognised as Best Issuer of the Year and Best Global Liquidity Solution Provider of the Year is a testament to the confidence that the market continues to place in IILM’s short-term Ṣukūk programme. Our continued growth has been driven by product innovation, disciplined execution and close collaboration with our stakeholders to deliver practical, high-quality liquidity management solutions that meet the evolving needs of Islamic financial institutions across jurisdictions.”
“I am also truly humbled to receive the Islamic Banker of the Year award. This recognition belongs equally to our dedicated team and all our stakeholders whose trust and partnership have enabled IILM to achieve these milestones. Together, we remain committed to further strengthening the global Islamic financial architecture by expanding access to internationally accepted, Shari’ah-compliant liquidity management instruments that support market resilience and sustainable industry growth.”
Building on the record achievements recognised by these awards, IILM has continued its strong growth trajectory in 2026. As of 17 July 2026, IILM has successfully issued a cumulative USD 15.777 billion of short-term Ṣukūk across 62 series, while its outstanding Ṣukūk portfolio has reached a new all-time high of USD 7.2 billion, surpassing the previous record established in 2025. These milestones underscore the growing global utilisation of IILM’s instruments by central banks, Islamic financial institutions, sovereign wealth funds and other institutional investors seeking high-quality, Shari’ah-compliant short-term liquidity management solutions.
The continued growth in issuance volumes, expanding investor participation and increasing market adoption further reinforce IILM’s role as the only regular international issuer of highly rated USD-denominated short-term Ṣukūk, supporting the development of a more robust, resilient and interconnected global Islamic financial market.
The Asset Triple A Islamic Finance Awards are among the industry’s most respected accolades, recognising institutions and individuals that have demonstrated excellence, innovation and leadership in advancing the global Islamic finance industry.
